How can we help?

Check that NearWord is running. You can see or change your shortcut in Settings.

1. On macOS, enable NearWord in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility, then restart the app.
2. If another app uses the same shortcut, choose a different one in NearWord.

Check setup permissions

Try larger, clearer text. Zoom in, place your cursor over the word and try again. For subtitles, pause the video first.

With AI Context enabled, NearWord automatically tries reading a cropped image of the lookup area if local text recognition fails.

On macOS, check NearWord’s Screen Recording permission in System Settings → Privacy & Security. Restart NearWord after changing it.

Check setup permissions

Check your selected dictionaries in Lookup.

1. Install a suitable dictionary from Dictionary Library.
2. In Lookup, choose Add dictionary and select it.

Changing your language does not change the dictionary list. A dictionary may not contain every word, name or phrase. Choose your dictionaries

AI Context needs an account and internet access. Check that you’re signed in and connected, then try the lookup again.

Out of free AI lookups? Wait for the daily refill or get Pro to keep reading. Your offline dictionaries still work.

Still not responding? Check service status.

Use the same account you used to buy Pro. Check your subscription in Account → Billing. A new purchase can take a moment to appear.

If your payment went through but you still see Free, email us with your receipt and account email. You don’t need to buy Pro again.

Open Account → Billing, choose Manage and cancel your subscription in the billing portal.

You keep Pro until the end of your paid period. It won’t renew after that.

Request a refund within 14 days of any payment, including renewals, for a full refund.
