Hi — I'm Sergei, the developer behind NearWord. I built it because reading in another language meant constantly breaking my flow: copy a word, switch to a dictionary, lose my place, come back. Browser extensions helped on web pages, but everything I actually read — subtitles, manga, visual novels, PDFs, games — lives outside the browser.

So NearWord reads the pixels on screen. Press one hotkey, get the meaning right where your cursor is, and keep reading. Core lookup runs on your Mac; AI Context is there when you want a definition that understands the sentence around the word.

It's early, and it's just me. That's the point — I read every message, and the app gets better from what people tell me. If something is broken, missing, or could be sharper, I want to hear it.

Say hello: support@nearword.app.

— Sergei
